Design Tip: The Dining Table Solution

A standard 10' x 7' (300x200 cm) rug is often chosen for dining, but for a classic 6-person setup (2 on each long side, 1 at each end), it is typically too narrow. Chair legs at the head of the table will often slide off the edge when pulled out.

      How to use a 10' x 7' rug effectively:

This size works perfectly if your table (up to 7 ft long) is placed perpendicularly across the rug, with 3 chairs on each long side and none at the ends. If you prefer the classic wrap-around seating for 6 people, we strongly recommend our larger formats starting from 8' x 10' or 9' x 12'.

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

      1. Why is 7' (200 cm) width critical for dining?

A standard chair needs about 24-28 inches to pull out. With a 7' wide rug and a 3' wide table, you only have about 22" per side—not enough to prevent the back legs from "tripping" over the edge.

      2. Are medium rugs suitable for home offices?

Yes. An 8'x6' size perfectly defines a workspace. Our hand-knotted Himalayan wool is extremely pressure-resistant and durable under office chair casters.

      3. How stain-resistant are natural materials?

Natural lanolin in the wool acts as a shield. Spills bead up before soaking in, making hand-knotted wool rugs far more practical than synthetic alternatives.

      4. What are the benefits of square rugs (7'x7' or 8'x8')?

Square rugs center a room. They are the ideal choice under round dining tables or in square rooms to create architectural symmetry.

      5. Do colors fade in sunlight?

We use lightfast dyes. While direct midday sun should be avoided for all textiles, hand-knotted pieces age far more gracefully than industrial products.

      6. Can I clean the rug myself?

Regular vacuuming in the direction of the pile is ideal. For stains, use clear water and natural soap. We recommend professional cleaning every 5-10 years.
