Provenance and Designer Heritage
The Edelgrund Contemporary Edition is a fine designer line that brings traditional Persian hand-knotting into a contemporary design language. The pieces are hand-knotted in Persia (Iran) by experienced weavers in the workshop tradition, but the design vocabulary belongs to the present: abstracted landscape fields, free linework, and a quieter overall structure than the classical Persian idiom.
This piece is built from finest hand-spun highland wool, coloured with 100% natural, vegetable-based dyes — the same plant-based pigments that have given Persian rugs their characteristic depth and durability for centuries. It is a contemporary, one-of-a-kind designer piece, conceived for modern interiors built around natural materials and clean architectural lines.
Colour and Composition
The composition reads as an abstract horizon: a softly striated grey-blue ground crossed by two deep indigo bands, with a rising field of vertical lines in red, coral, gold-saffron and ivory climbing from the lower edge like reeds or light on water. Small red and gold square accents are scattered across the upper field. The hand-spun wool gives the colour a living, modulated quality — each line varies subtly along its length, the mark of a genuine hand-knotted piece rather than a printed design.
