Contemporary Heriz Silk Designer Rug
8 × 10 ft · 310 × 245 cm · Gold, Fuchsia & Turquoise
Once upon a Time I was a Heriz — the classical pattern speaks a new colour language.
A 1920s Heriz Pattern, Reborn in Silk and Tibetan Wool
The Heriz design goes back to the Persian Heriz tradition of the 1920s — angular medallions, stylised botanical fields, a bold geometric grammar. In our contemporary interpretation Once upon a Time I was a Heriz, the classical pattern is freed from its historical palette and rebuilt in gold, fuchsia, turquoise and orange. The shift from earth tones to jewel colours lets the architecture of the design emerge with new clarity — a luminous gold and saffron field carrying a turquoise central medallion, framed by fuchsia and a richly drawn floral border.
The piece is hand-knotted in our partner manufactory in Nepal using the Tibetan knot, in 80% real silk with 20% Tibetan highland wool. The high silk content gives the rug its luminous sheen and the colour-shifting, almost liquid surface visible up close, while the wool lends body and resilience — a material pairing that gives the piece its characteristic depth and quiet brilliance.
Presence in the Room
At 310 × 245 cm (7.6 m²) this is a true statement rug. Three contexts in which the piece reaches its full effect:
- Modern living room: Beneath a low sofa group and a sculptural coffee table, against pale walls — the rug becomes the room's chromatic anchor.
- Stately interiors and grand dining rooms: Under a long table for eight to ten, the Heriz medallion reads as a horizontal artwork seen from above.
- Designer office or library: In a high-spec working space with walnut, brass and leather, the silk highlights catch the artificial light.

A Collector's Piece and a Lasting Investment
A hand-knotted rug in 80% real silk at 150 kpsi is a tangible asset, not a consumable. Each piece is the work of months at the loom — a single, unrepeatable object whose value rests in material, density and craftsmanship rather than in fashion. Fine silk Designer rugs of this calibre hold their worth over time and are increasingly sought by collectors as a real-asset complement to a considered interior. With its certificate of authenticity and verified provenance, this Heriz is equally at home as a daily statement piece and as a long-term investment.
