The Weave
The Perpedil (Perepedil) is one of the most distinctive Caucasian designs — named after a village in the Kuba region, it is built around bold, stylised ram’s-horn (wurma) motifs scattered across an open ground, here a luminous saffron-yellow field. This example is hand-knotted from hand-spun highland wool on a cotton foundation: a rare mid-century piece in very good condition, with the clear, saturated colours these weavings are prized for.
In Your Home
At 192 × 130 cm (6.3 × 4.3 ft) it makes a characterful centrepiece for a seating area, study or bedroom. The yellow ground is unusually bright, and the graphic geometry reads beautifully against both modern and traditional interiors.
