Provenance and Sabah Collection
The Sabah collection is a Djoharian Design creation, hand-knotted by experienced women weavers in the region of Khenifra in Morocco. Because the looms are typically set up inside the weavers' own homes, most Sabah pieces come in small to medium formats. Large-format Sabah rugs are rare — they require extended looms and many additional months of work. This 427 × 305 cm palace format is one of the largest pieces we currently offer in the line.
The piece was hand-knotted in the Khenifra region of Morocco from 100% imported fine merino wool on a wool foundation, with a deep pile of 18 to 22 mm. The merino construction gives a softer haptic underfoot than the traditional hand-spun Berber wool.
Colour and Composition
The composition stays in the Sabah signature: a luminous ivory-cream ground scattered with a regular all-over grid of small saffron-gold cross motifs — understated, contemporary, ready to anchor a large room without competing with it. The piece is finished with a saffron-and-ivory striped kilim end-band and natural wool fringes. At 13 m² this is a piece for generous living rooms, open-plan dining areas, or stately interiors where a smaller rug would feel lost.
Presence in the Room
At 427 × 305 cm (10.0 × 14.0 ft), 13.0 m² this is a palace-format piece. Three contexts in which it reaches its full effect:
- Open-plan living room: the textbook palette for a full sofa group with armchairs and side tables, deep pile pleasant underfoot.
- Generous dining room: under a long table for eight to ten, the soft ivory reads as quiet architectural anchor from above.
- Grand bedroom or principal suite: tactile foundation for a complete bedroom composition.

Purchases above EUR 1,000.00 must be declared to the German Customs office. Please allow two additional business days for processing the Export Declaration Form prior to shipment.
