The Oushak Tradition, Woven in Afghanistan
The Oushak design takes its name from the town of Uşak in western Anatolia, celebrated for centuries for its large-scale, softly drawn floral patterns and gentle, luminous palettes. Today the finest Oushak-style rugs are also hand-knotted in Afghanistan, where skilled weavers combine the classic Oushak vocabulary with hand-spun wool and natural, muted dyes. This is a finely woven contemporary piece in the vintage-washed style — new, yet given the soft, faded, lived-in look of an antique.
Colour and Composition
A soft grey-blue field carries a generous allover Oushak design — stylised palmettes, blossoms, leafy vines and vase motifs — drawn in ivory, cream, taupe and muted charcoal. The whole palette is deliberately quiet and tonal, with no strong contrasts. A broad ivory-sand main border of flowering vine and rosettes frames the field. The wool is hand-spun and the pile cropped low, giving the rug a smooth, soft surface and a calm, contemporary presence.

At 305 × 245 cm (7.47 m²) this is a generous room-size format. Three contexts in which the Oushak reaches its full effect:

Purchases above EUR 1,000.00 must be declared to the German Customs office. Please allow two additional business days for processing the Export Declaration Form prior to shipment.
