The Weave
This Tabriz is woven in the fine 50 Raj quality — approximately 500,000 knots per square metre (around 320 kpsi). The pile combines lustrous cork wool with silk on a pure cotton foundation, giving the dense, low pile its crisp drawing and a quiet sheen. Tabriz weavers call finely drawn floral designs like this Nakshe: a central lobed medallion with pendants, framed by flower-filled spandrels and an ivory main border of acanthus scrollwork and palmettes.

At 150 × 100 cm (4.9 × 3.3 ft) this is an accent-size piece. The deep red field anchors a seating group, dresses an entry or the side of a bed, and comes alive in daylight where the silk highlights catch the eye.
