Provenance & Type
An antique American Sarouk in the monumental palace format, woven in the Arak district (historic Sultanabad) during the great era of Persian export weaving, roughly 1910–1940. It carries the sought-after Meraban drawing — a dense floral all-over without a central medallion — on a rare rosé ground, of the fine Mohajeran quality. The American Sarouk type is documented in standard references and museum collections, among them the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Material & Condition
Hand-knotted from hand-spun highland wool on a cotton foundation. As a genuine antique it keeps its original fringes and selvedges; there are age-related areas of lower pile and professional, period-appropriate restorations — the honest marks of a carpet that has been in use for roughly a century. A collector-grade piece and a lasting investment.
