A one of a kind antique Kashan Manchester rug, very fine quality.

Provenance: Kashan Manchester Antique 6.8 x 4.2 ft / 210 x 125 cm
Age: circa 100 - 120 years (beginning of 20th Century)
Pile material: finest imported English Manchester wool, very soft with fantastic luster
Warp material: fine cotton

Style: Goes well with Victorian, Library, Dining Room, Living Room and Farmhouse. Great contrast to Industrial / Modern.


Condition: Excellent, outstanding preservation in full pile condition, hard to find
Colors and dyes: Dark Indigo blue, Dark Cinnamon, Pink, Turquoise, Beige; vegetable dyes
Historic: Rugs from Kashan and Sarouk area were among the most looked after carpets at the end of the 19th century. They were in high demand on Persian domestic as well as international markets and sold at high prices. Rugs from Kashan are quite finer in wool quality and knot density than other productions from that time. The best rug making workshops used imported English Manchester wool yarn. It was machine spun and therefore had a very exact look. Famous Workshops from Kashan from that time are Mohtasham and Dabir. Both had been producing since the Mid 1800‘s and their design and style was typical and unique. The pictured rug has many motives and quality signs that make it most likely, that it was made by Master weaver who worked at one of these workshops.

Condition report:

Very good, original selvedge and fringe. Fresh washed, excellent pile condition. Super soft wool.
